About the PowerMac
PowerMac G4s were available between 1994 and 2004, with the G5s debuting in 2003 and being replaced by the Mac Pro in 2006.
The PowerMac was the first personal computer to include a GigaBit Ethernet as standard, and the first to offer a DVD writer.
Initial G4 processor options were from (a very modest by today's standards) 400MHz to 500MHz, but by 2001 this had increased to dual 1GHz.
When the G5 was initially released in 2003 there were processor options of 1.6GHz, 1.8GHx and 2.0GHz, with up to either 4Gb or 8Gb of RAM available. However by 2006 processor speeds of up to 2.7GHz were available, with up to 16Gb of RAM.
